4.07 Compose fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama using self-selected and
assigned topics and forms (e.g., personal and imaginative narratives, research
reports, diaries, journals, logs, rules, instructions).COMPETENCY GOAL 1: The learner will make observations and conduct
investigations to build an understanding of animal behavior and adaptation.
1.02 Observe and record how animals of the same kind differ in some of
their characteristics and discuss possible advantages and
disadvantages of this variation.
-Read The School Story as a class.
-Have teacher chose book about African animals and read to class.
-Present idea to class about creating their own books about African animals in small groups.
-Teacher creates their own book with the class as an example.
-Put students into groups and assign them an African animal.
-After creating the books, the teacher collects all of the work and creates a book with all of the information made by the students.
-Have the book on display in the classroom.
