Biography
Andrew Clements was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1949. Growing up, Andrew had no intention of becoming a writer but he was an avid reader. Throughout his school years, his teachers noticed that he was an exceptional writer and encouraged him to move forward with his talent. While attending Northwestern University, one of his professors noticed his writing skills were better than average and offered him a position in teaching a creative writing course at high school workshops. He later earned his Masters of Arts in Teaching at National Louis University and then taught in public schools in the Chicago area for seven years. After getting married and starting a family in these seven years, Clements realized teaching was not for him at the time and packed up himself and his family to move to New York to pursue something in singing and song writing. When this did not work out for him either, Clements began working for a small publisher and his career took off from there. In 1990, Clements began working on a book called Frindle that was finally published in 1996. Frindle was his first and most famous book and from there, he became a full time author.
